| Sandy Point State Park has a crescent shaped beach on the Bay, with lifeguards from Memorial Day to Labor Day. This beach boasts an awesome view of the Bridge. As well as beaching, there is a fishing pier, boat ramp and rentals, hiking trails, concessions and several picnic shelters. Entrance fees range from $1 to $3. |

| Sandy Point State Park opened at about the same time as the first bridge span. According to Ross Kimmel at The Department of Natural Resources, acquisition of the land by the Park Service began in 1949. Development, which included building the beach itself, began in 1950. When the Park opened in 1952, it had two segregated swimming beaches. |
